Man Utd face Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-final and there could be changes from the side which defeated FC Copenhagen.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has three selection dilemmas as he prepares his Manchester United side to face Sevilla in the Europa League semi final on Sunday night.
United are just one win away from a place in the final next week as Solskjaer looks to end his first full season in charge with a piece of silverware to show for it.
It looks set to be a tight game against Spanish opponents Sevilla who battled hard to defeat Wolves in the quarter finals earlier in the week.
Solskjaer’s first dilemma comes in goal with Sergio Romero typically preferred in cup competitions. The Argentine started in goal against Copenhagen on Monday night, but was dropped for David de Gea when United played Chelsea in the FA Cup semi final last month.
United’s next issue comes in defence with Eric Bailly likely to drop out for Victor Lindelof if the Sweden international is deemed fit enough to start. Harry Maguire will captain the side, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka plays on the right and Brandon Williams continues at left back in place of the injured Luke Shaw.
The final dilemma comes in midfield for United with Fred likely to drop out from the starting XI which beat Copenhagen and veteran Nemanja Matic the most likely to come in and replace him. The Serbian has enjoyed a revival at United as of late and has formed an excellent partnership with Paul Pogba which has allowed Bruno Fernandes more attacking freedom ahead.
Mason Greenwood is still relatively inexperienced on the big stage but remains the standout option on the right wing and should be given a chance on merit ahead of Daniel James and Juan Mata. Mata changed the game vs Copenhagen but remains a better option to utilise from the bench with United likely to need his cool head and experience in the final stages.
Marcus Rashford was poor again on Monday night but should start again by virtue of the fact United have little else to offer on the left wing, while Anthony Martial is the best No.9 option at the club and deserves the chance to play in the biggest games of the season.
Manchester United predicted XI vs Sevilla: Romero; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Williams; Matic, Pogba, Fernandes; Greenwood, Rashford, Martial.
