Here are the Manchester United morning headlines for Thursday, August 6.

Sanchez leaves

Alexis Sanchez’s Manchester United nightmare is finally over.

The Chilean, who scored just three league goals for the club, has spent the 2019/20 season on loan with Inter Milan and the move has been made permanent.

According to Inter’s chief executive,, the news should be made official this morning.

“The player is entirely owned by Inter,” Inter’s chief executive Beppe Marotta told Sky Sports on Wednesday ahead of the move being made official on Thursday. “We have a contract with him for three seasons. We believe in him, that he can be a strong part of this squad and are happy to have concluded this deal.”

Solskjaer explains Martial celebration

Anthony Martial scored United’s winner against LASK last night as they came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory on the night.

Martial, who netted with two minutes to go of the Europa League clash, immediately pointed to boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once he’d scored.

United’s manager explained why he did so after the match.

“We needed to win the game,” he said. “Of course, I wanted to but I couldn’t get all of [the substitutes] on. We want to win and Antho was begging to come on. But he promised a goal as well, so well done.”

Solskjaer coy on Sancho

As it could be the biggest deal in the Premier League this summer, it was no surprise that Solskjaer was asked about United’s pursuit of Jadon Sancho after the win over LASK.

United  have not agreed personal terms with Sancho’s representatives or a fee with Dortmund, who are believed to be holding out for £108million.

Senior United sources believe Dortmund’s August 10  deadline  to sign Sancho is ‘meaningless’ and described it as ‘artificial’ since the  transfer window  closes on October 5.

Solskjaer remained tight lipped as the saga looks set to continue for the time being.

“We’re looking into all transfers differently,” Solskjaer said. “I’m not going to speak about individuals that are not our players, so no news, no updates, we’ll update you if something happens.”
